Other Ways of Seing - The show

I’m delighted to announce “Other Ways of Seeing,” the exhibition of alternative processes in photography we have curated with Orestes Gonzalez.

After an open call and weeks of looking at images, we have selected the work of 71 artists from over 20 countries.

Today, thanks to Culture Lab and all the volunteers, “Other Ways of Seeing” is installed and ready for opening at the Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, New York.

When Orestes invited me to co-curate this exhibition, I immediately saw the opportunity to show the work of incredible artists worldwide. As one of the curators and director of Today’s Alternative, a platform for sharing alternative processes on Instagram, sometimes I felt frustrated to see the images only in virtual form. This time it’s going to be live!

Other Ways of Seeing is a celebration of Alternative Processes, allowing us to look at the work of the artists in actual size; from small pieces to gigantic ones, to feel the touch of the paper, to appreciate the delicacy of some processes and the richness of the color palette they use.

All the artists in the show not only have a mastery of their technique, giving a unique voice to their work, but also a strong vision that brings even more depth to art dealing with subjects like global warming, gun violence, the feminist struggle, memory, and of course the human condition.
